ATTENDEESFrom April 27th to 28th,2024, the "CBCE 2024 TechnicalSummit" was grandly opened. The summit was jointly hostedby CBCE and EBC (European Brewing Convention), and coorganized by the School of Bioengineering of JiangnanUniversity and ZW-Lab International Brewing Academy.
The summit featured a robust lineup of 32 experts andscholars from around the world, as well as entrepreneurswith practical experience, sharing current internationalbrewing technologies and discussing the current state andfuture of China's craft beer industry, promoting thedevelopment of the Asian craft beer industry.
CBCE is committed to fostering exchanges and cooperationin the domestic and international beer industry, providingsolutions for breweries of all sizes, and helping Chinesecompanies explore the integration of local products to form adevelopment path with a unique style that aligns with localmarket trends.Regardless of whether a company is in thestartup, growth, or transformation phase, it can gain valuableexperience from this event.

This edition of the technical summit featured a total of 18 keynote speeches and 3 roundtable discussions. They were organized into 7 major sections: Beer & Brewing Business News, Raw Materials,Innovative Brewing& Flavor, Brewery& Equipment-Brewing and Sustainable Brewing, Innovative Brewing& Flavor, Product Quality Control, Brewery & Equipment - Packaging& Dispensing. In this exchange, industry experts spoke freely and shared their views on the craft beer industry in China. Regarding the main challenges faced by Chinese brewers, invited guests included Tiago, a member of the EBC Executive Committee, Lin Zhiping, an assistant general manager and professor-level senior engineer at Beijing Yanjing Brewery Co., Ltd., Guo Zhi, quality and technology director of Zebra Tongda (Anhui) Technology Co., Ltd., and Du Hongbo, founder of Chi Er. They participated in a roundtable discussion on the challenges faced by Chinese brewers, including the fierce market competition and the difficulty of maintaining the freshness of beer. As more brewers enter the market, the production volume of craft beer is increasing, bringing certain challenges in terms of quality and stability. The guests discussed how to ensure the freshness and stability of beer through packaging innovation and supply chain perspectives.
The discussion on the unique innovation path of Chinese craft beer featured experts sharing their experiences and insights. It was proposed that innovation is the key to the success of craft beer, and that continuous exploration and breakthroughs in product development, flavor design, and packaging design are needed to meet consumers' pursuit of fresh and unique taste. At the same time, combining regional, cultural and consumer preferences to accurately grasp market demand is also an important way to achieve unique innovation. The discussion invited Associate Professor Feng Yun from the College of Bioengineering at Jiangnan University, Joshua Staines, Supply Chain and Brewing Director for Asia Pacific at Budweiser, Lin Zhiping, Deputy General Manager and Senior Engineer of Beijing Yanjing Brewery Co., Ltd., Guo ZeFeng, Deputy General Manager of Qiandaohu Beer Co., Ltd., Sha Tao, founder of BeerFortune YouYun, and Jing Song, chief brewer of Ruer Craft Brewery, to share their respective case studies and detailed interpretations on the procurement management of brewing raw materials, including the problems that may arise during use, and the design thinking behind product development, as well as the perspectives on craft brewery design and management.
For the freshness management of beer, industry experts have also shown great importance. They believe that maintaining the freshness of beer is crucial for craft beer. The discussion focuses on the procurement and management of beer raw materials, quality control during the production process, the establishment of logistics systems, and channel management, etc. The topic invites Professor Dong Xiaolei, Deputy Director of the College of Biological Engineering at Qilu University of Technology, Jiangdong Gongye College's Chief Engineer Ji Xiangdong, and Zhi Pianji Flying Brewery's principal Chen Juncan to share their insights, experience, and methods with enterprises for inspiration.
This edition of the technology summit attracted nearly 300 distinguished guests to the venue, including heads of well-known domestic and international companies, technical engineers from wineries, independent winemakers, and scholars from renowned academic institutions.Together, they discussed the current advanced wine-making technology trends and the diversified market development of the craft brewing industry.
